Content Page Deconstruction.

Composition:

The Magazine has used a very neat and tidy conventional grid. This magazine is slightly alternative plus rock music, this magazine appeals to a large target audience by having a diversity that blends well together. The name of the magazine is clearly stated at the top of the contents page, this is advertising the magazine by constantly reminding the audience of which magazine they are reading so that the magazine logo because familiar with the audience.

The text is neatly placed around the centre image, this is so that there isn’t any confusion with the target audience and the audience knows where everything is. The text is cleverly set around the image in the centre, so that the text doesn’t distance the audience from the image, but so that they come to it afterwards.

In the centre of the contents page there is an image, this image compliments the colour scheme that the magazine is based around. The image is the main concentration in the contents page because it is more visual. The main image is giving a suggestion to the read of which article they might want to read first as below the image there is text and then a page number.

Down the left hand side, there is an index section. This section shows the audience an easy way for them to find their area of interests without them going though the whole magazine. The font is very clear so that it is easy for the audience to read.

Photography:

There are only two images on this contents page. The thumbnail advertising the previous issue and subscription, having the thumbnail of subscription on the content page is a good idea because throughout the time the reader reads the magazine they will always be constantly reminded about the subscription which then if the reader enjoys the magazine might entice them to buy the subscription. The main image is photographed to look like it is taken live. By doing this, it suggests that maybe a fan or someone from the event may have taken the picture, this draws the audience in. The image suggests without any words that they band is alternative or rock because they are playing their own musical instruments. This image has been made to look like a fan has taken in because the feel of live entices the audience with the sweaty look from the artists and not really caring about their appearance.

Graphics:

There aren’t many graphics on this page because the editor wants the audience to focus on the content and get the information from this page instead of informing the audience to other sections. The layout isn’t as attractive as the front cover because the potential reader has now become a consumer to the magazine. The only graphic on this content page is the red turn over arrow, this arrow is telling the audience that there is more information on the next page and is persuading them to continue reading.

Text Features:

The main headline of the contents page immediately introduces the audience to the magazine and clearly states that every sort of help is there. This main headline gives the audience all fell of the way that the editor is addressing the audience in the way in which the wording comes across.

The sections of the magazine are separated into ‘news’, ‘radar’, ‘reviews’, ‘live’ and ‘features’. The sections are exactly the same, bold white writing inside a black box, this is simplistic so that they audience doesn’t get confused and finds it very easy to find the section wanted.

The ‘band Index’ on the left hand side is a clear and simple research for the reader to use and find the area of interest without any confusion or misunderstanding. This is using the colour scheme of black and red.

There are not any visibly noticeable font changes because in doing this it would distance the audience from the main focus of the content page, in being to help the audience find what they are looking for.

Overall Theme:

The colour scheme of this magazine is Red, Black and White; The colour red represents danger and passion, this colour is good to relate with for rock/ indie music because the lyrics are very powerful and passionate from people personally views. This magazine gives a diversity in the types of artist that are selected to be in the magazine but they are also very risk for else other because they all have passion in what they do, this is risky because they are competitors to one another. The colours together bring a bold clash and attract the audience eye. The colours are not to over-whelming on their own but together make an amazing contrast.
